New Communications Solutions, LLC is a Norcross, GA based company that designs and manufactures specialized equipment for the amateur radio and commercial communications markets. NCS products are focused on enhancing the operation of the many diverse activities of modern radio communications. NCS will provide products for a wide variety of amateur radio interests from casual operating - to contesting - to DXing – to emergency operations and space communications.

NCS was founded by Doug McDowell, President (K4SWJ) and Carey Fisher, Chief Technical Officer, (K8VZ). Before forming NCS, Doug and Carey had successful careers in the defense electronics, space communications and commercial telecommunications industries. They have a combined total of over 60 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, marketing and managing sophisticated electronic, microwave and telecommunications systems.

Doug and Carey founded NCS to satisfy specialized equipment needs of amateur radio operators, needs heretofore that have not been satisfied by manufacturers in the industry. They identified these needs during their own combined total of more than 75 years as licensed amateur radio operators. For over 30 years they have developed specialized control equipment for their own ham shacks to enhance their station capabilities. Unique equipment developed includes sophisticated station consoles for controlling and linking HF, VHF and UHF radios and simultaneous operation on numerous modes. Development of these sophisticated capabilities was first fueled by their participation in ARES activities and the need to provide emergency communications in a variety of situations.

Doug and Carey have an extensive understanding of the operating environment of the serious ham operator. They each have served for a number of years as EC for Metro-Atlanta and Georgia SEC and have first hand knowledge of the problems associated with communicating in disaster environments. Both have long time experience with contesting, DXing, RTTY, Packet, satellite communications, designing and building equipment, writing computer programs for the ham shack including satellite tracking, logging, radio control and numerous others. They would now like to share their creativity and knowledge by offering innovative products to the amateur radio community.

The founders’ industry experience has ingrained the importance of quality, reliability, and functionality in the design of sophisticated subsystems and systems for military, space and telecommunications applications. This discipline extends into the products NCS produces for the amateur radio market.
